A bar-type LCD takes a standard panel geometry and stretches the aspect ratio until the display becomes a ribbon: long, thin and readable from the side. Shelf-edge signage, transport information strips, appliance status bars and industrial annunciators all live in this format, and it cannot be served by cutting down a normal panel — the glass, driver timing and backlight are designed for the stretched format from the start.
HZY's platform-listed bar range is anchored by two MIPI models. The 6.2 inch bar TFT (360×960) is the shelf-edge and compact-signage size. The 6.86 inch bar panel (480×1280) gives more vertical resolution for transport and retail media. The wider design catalogue also holds a 3.4 inch bar model (412×960, RGB) and a 5.19 inch 460×1280 MIPI model for narrower housings — ask for the drawing if your strip is shorter than 6 inches.

Driving a stretched panel
Bar panels are driven like ordinary TFT modules of their interface class — both listed models are MIPI — but the framebuffer geometry is unusual: content is composed for a tall, narrow canvas (or a wide, short one when the panel is mounted rotated). Budget the UI work accordingly; text designed for 16:9 does not survive the transplant. Our bar display applications guide covers layout patterns that work.
Where bar displays earn their place
- Retail shelf-edge — price and promotion strips that update centrally instead of being reprinted.
- Transport — route and status strips above doors and along vehicle ceilings.
- Appliances — full-width status bars on refrigeration, laundry and kitchen equipment.
- Industrial — long annunciator panels on production machinery.
Both listed models start at 2-piece platform minimums and are 100% inspected before shipment. Custom FPC and brightness variants follow the standard custom LCD route; for rectangular signage panels, compare the standard TFT module range.
