Colour is not always the requirement. For meters, instruments, controllers and appliances, a monochrome LCD is cheaper, thinner on power, readable for a decade and stable in production for years — which is why monochrome remains a full product family at HZY, with its own TN/STN/VA panel lines and COG/COB assembly, not a legacy afterthought next to TFT.
The three constructions
Graphic modules render pixels — waveforms, menus, icons, multiple fonts. COG modules put the driver on the glass (thinnest); COB modules put it on a PCB (toughest, easiest to mount). The 128×64 format is the family's centre of gravity; 192×64, 240×128 and 240×160 sit above it.
Character modules render text grids — 8×2 to 40×2 — through ST7066U-class controllers. The 1602 (16×2) is the most specified display format in industrial history, and we build it in standard, VA black-background and large-outline variants.
Segment displays render only your digits and icons, on glass drawn for your product. Fully custom by nature; see segment LCD displays and the custom segment process.

Choosing the glass technology
TN is the economical default; STN and FSTN step up contrast and viewing angle; VA delivers the deep-black, wide-view premium look. The trade-offs are worked through in VA vs TN vs STN compared. Every monochrome family pairs with a matched LED backlight — white or colour — and every module is 100% inspected before it ships. If your product currently uses a monochrome display from a maker who has exited the business, send the part number: cross-referencing legacy formats is routine work for this line.
