VA (vertical alignment) is the monochrome technology you choose when the display face is part of the product's design: a genuinely black background, white or coloured segments floating on it, and a viewing cone wide enough for a kitchen, a showroom or a car interior. HZY's VA production spans standard modules and the special-shaped custom glass that appliance brands use to make a control face unmistakably theirs.
The VA range
- VA character modules — the 1602 VA build (white text on black, 16×2 COB) is platform-listed and shows what VA does to a commodity format: the same controller, a completely different product feel.
- VA segment glass — a standard glass option across the custom segment programme, including negative-mode and printed variants ( VA panels with printed graphics behind the glass appear in our catalogue).
- Special-shaped VA — shaped outlines beyond rectangles, the differentiator in our monochrome line: VA glass cut to follow an appliance's curved control face.
VA vs the other monochromes
VA costs more than TN and STN and asks more of the backlight — a black field means the backlight defines the look, so VA projects are quoted with their LED backlight as one design. VA segment platforms carry the documented custom parameters of the segment programme: 2.8–5 V drive, 6H/12H viewing, pin/zebra/FPC connection, -30~+80°C operating on the platform spec. Send the face drawing — even a sketch — and the custom segment team will return a manufacturable version in about 3 days.
