A transflective display does two jobs with one piece of glass: a reflective layer bounces ambient light back through the pixels for daylight reading, and a backlight behind it takes over in the dark. The result is a screen that stays legible in direct sun without the power budget of a high-brightness transmissive panel — which is why transflective TFT is the default choice for outdoor instruments, handheld terminals, meters and marine or agricultural controls.
HZY runs a dedicated transflective TFT line in four sizes. The 2.4 inch and 2.8 inch models (240×320, SPI) cover handheld and panel-meter formats; the 3.7 inch 480×854 and 5.0 inch 800×480 (both RGB) suit larger outdoor HMIs. Monochrome transflective options also exist in the COG family — the 128×64 DFSTN negative transflective module is a long-running example.

When transflective beats high brightness
- Battery devices — the backlight can stay off outdoors, where a transmissive panel would need 600 cd/m² or more just to compete with the sun.
- Always-on instruments — sunlight readability does not depend on backlight lifetime or thermal headroom.
- Mixed environments — one display covers the loading dock and the warehouse without a brightness compromise.
Where the device lives indoors or in shade, a standard or high-brightness TFT module is usually the simpler answer; our sunlight readable guide and the transflective vs transmissive comparison walk through the trade-off in detail.
Specifications at a glance
| Model family | Size | Resolution | Interface | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Transflective TFT | 2.4" | 240×320 | SPI | ST7735-class driver |
| Transflective TFT | 2.8" | 240×320 | SPI | ST7789-class driver |
| Transflective TFT | 3.7" | 480×854 | RGB | ST7701-class driver |
| Transflective TFT | 5.0" | 800×480 | RGB | JD9165-class driver |
All four are built on the same TFT assembly lines as our standard range, with the same customisation options — FPC, brightness of the backlight unit, touch on selected sizes — and the same 100% functional inspection before shipment. If your current product uses a transflective panel from another source and you need a second source or a size change, send the datasheet: cross-referencing an existing model is the fastest starting point we offer.
