TN (twisted nematic) is the original LCD technology and still the rational default for a large class of products: straightforward readouts, viewed from a designed direction, in indoor conditions, at the lowest glass cost. HZY's TN production is centred on segment glass — our panel lines started with TN — and TN appears across the monochrome families, from simple positive-mode segment panels to TN-based graphic and character modules.
Where TN is the right answer
- Meters and instruments — digital panel meters, energy-meter readouts (the catalogue includes dedicated energy-meter and digital-meter segment formats), temperature controllers.
- Cost-driven volume products — when the display is a readout, not a feature, TN keeps the budget in the rest of the product.
- Segment faces of every digit count — two-digit, 7-segment, 14-segment and fully custom layouts, in the segment LCD programme.
TN's limits, honestly
Viewing angle and contrast are TN's weak axes; a readout that must be read from below, above or far off-axis should step up to STN/FSTN or VA.
