The 5 inch band is where consumer-panel economics meet industrial products: phone-class resolutions and MIPI interfaces, on modules an equipment maker can actually buy for a decade. The platform anchor is the 5.0 inch 800×480 module — the size/resolution pair that terminals, control panels and development ecosystems standardised on.

The 5.0 inch platform model's documentation set is the band's most complete: 800×480, ST7262, RGB, 120.7×75.8 mm outline, 350 cd/m² backlight in its documented build. Around it, the band offers the shape variants — a 720×720 square and a 460×1280 bar — and the resolution ladder up to 1080×2160 for products whose UI is closer to a phone than to a panel meter.
Choosing inside this band is mostly a host decision: RGB if your controller is an MCU-class part with a display peripheral, MIPI if it is a SoC. Brightness and touch are configured per project; see custom LCD displays. The next band up, 7 inch and above, is where touch becomes standard and outlines jump.
